Wallace Delois Wattles (1860 – 1911) American author who wrote “The Science of Getting Rich,” the first part of a trilogy on living.
“The scientific use of thought consists in forming a clear and distinct mental image of what you want; in holding fast to the purpose to get what you want; and in realizing with grateful faith that you do get what you want.”
Wattles encouraged his readers to test his theories on themselves rather than take his word as an authority. Throughout his life he endeavored to live by every word he wrote.
Wattles practiced the technique of creative visualization. In his daughter Florence’s words, he “formed a mental picture” or visual image, and then “worked toward the realization of this vision.”
The “worked toward” part is perhaps where many people miss Wattles message. Wattles said in The Science of Getting Rich, “By thought the thing you want is brought to you, by action you receive it.” What could be more clear. What great words, what a great thought.
You will find recordings of this book and an electronic copy in the resources section of this site which is in the upper right of our home page.
