Law Of Attraction

All people are surrounded by a thought atmosphere. . . Through this force we’re either
drawing in or forcing back. Like draws in like and…we draw in exactly what we
are in mind.

The law of attraction, or what I refer to as resonance manifestation, is the principle by
which you draw into your life that which is in vibrational alignment with your
awareness; your thoughts, feelings, opinions and attitudes, whether you’re
mindful of them or not.

This is why the starting point on the road to successfully and deliberately manifesting
your desires is to become aware of the thoughts and feelings that are producing
your experience and to take responsibility for your reality.

Accepting responsibility for your life without judgment is both empowering and liberating. When you understand that you’re source not subject of your existence, you are able to
modify it.

Further more, when you realize that you’re always backed up by an all-loving,
intelligent universe that you’re ever united with, you’ll be able to allow and
engage co-creation where synchronicities and serendipities burst, “hows”  are magically taken care of and issues in your life seamlessly woven into a tapestry of dreams come true.

The law of attraction is the power of like attracting like and the means by which you
magnetically materialize that which you center your attention upon and are in
energetic balance with.

To apply the law of attraction successfully you will be required to become conscious of
what‘s happening inside. You need to be aware of the thoughts, feelings,
beliefs and attitudes that are what’s creating the boundaries of your
experience.

You’re a marvelous manifesting machine producing your reality in every moment. It is not
possible to not create. The trick is to become aware of how you do so. For
this, realizing the nature of reality, the law of attraction and the “greater
picture” around manifestation is of value.

The law of attraction is an absolute. It doesn’t single out, it simply is. This implies it
can work both for and versus you. To draw in what you want into your life you
need to line up your heart and mind to the final result of your wishes, the
juicy positive ideas and beliefs which palpably resonate and act as a magnet to
those very goals.

In my exploration of manifesting and the law of attraction I have identified some key insights that have aided me to understand its nature and workings and engage it entirely in my favor. A few of these will be explored on this blog.

This morning I read a post on the Zen Habits blog (btw, a great blog) about the law of attraction: Why the Law of Attraction is Wrong, But Why It Still Works. The bottom line of the post is that the steps that the law of attraction spells out work but the law itself is wrong. If you state what you want, keep it in mind, and take action it works but, he says, the law of attraction is wrong. Well, OK.

But… those steps are the law of attraction plain and simple, no more, no less.

What the author is really taking issue with is all of the theory’s that have grown up around the law as to what is causing it to work – not the law. Confusion of the theory with the law. Let me say this: had confusion of the theory of electricity occurred with the electric light then maybe you would be sitting in the dark just as many who are trying to use the law of attraction may be. More on this later.

The big theory at the moment involves quantum physics and our thoughts actually affecting matter. And I say: “Interesting I like the idea of the theory, but who really knows?” Ultimately does it matter about a theory? The rules work, that is the law works so we use it.

Wallace Wattles in 1910 wrote The Science of Getting Rich. The book details the law of attraction, doesn’t even call it the law of attraction and yet every word tells you exactly what you should be doing to bring important changes to your life by attracting the things you want in.

How can you ever have something other than what everyone else has if you don’t know what it is? So you visualize it, you turn it round in your minds eye and begin to think about exactly how you want it. As you go through your day you allow the idea into mind to encourage you on but obviously you are working and you need your prime focus on the activities at hand.

These first steps will begin to activate subconscious thinking and according to Wattles and most LOA writers actually cause it’s formation (it doesn’t matter what you believe is causing the formation). The third part is the kicker. Ideas will begin to enter your consciousness about how to go about getting your thing — as you get them take action. That is what Wattles describes, those are the core ideas of the law of attraction, that is the law of attraction and every other writer has said so.

The problem is we fill up the pages with all sorts of reasons why things are the way they are to help others relate. It can distract from the main idea.

Here is the same thing again: a girl sees boy she likes and thinks about him. She has the vision and her mind begins to work, perhaps she gets ideas from friends on how to get him, maybe she reads a book, but her mind automatically starts gathering ideas…it’s how we humans work. She gets the idea that she should make her self as pretty as she can and begin to talk to him. So she primps, begins to smile at him, and says hi.

And there it is: vision, the action ideas come, action taken. If she doesn’t get that boy, another boy will find her because she is more attractive and it stemmed from the vision.

The law of attraction is basic, simple, we use it intuitively and yet we miss it for the big areas of our lives because so much crap gets in the way of our clear thinking and belief .

Break it down for yourself very simply and begin to believe. If a particular theory helps you believe then that theory is great, I consider theories more like analogy’s they help me understand but may or may not be the truth.

Merriam-Webster says that a theory is: a hypothesis assumed for the sake of argument or investigation b: an unproved assumption : conjecture c: a body of theorems presenting a concise systematic view of a subject.

So enjoy the discussion but don’t be put off anything by the theory behind it. Theories are just tools.

My background is in electronics. Electronics is built on theory and when I started learning – I had the worst trouble because all of the discussions of how circuits worked involved these long discussions of the theory behind it, very confusing. Later I learned to set the theory aside and just note what happens – do this and get this effect. When you apply voltage to a light bulb it comes on*. Do I really care about electrons (invisible particles that flow through solid matter) and the atomic theory of conductors and insulators? No, just give me cause and effect and maybe I’ll come back for the other stuff later. So it is with the law of attraction, just use it.

The steps that Wattles discussed, that Rhonda Byrne put into The Secret, that Ester Hicks channels with Abraham and reveals… All of these boil down to vision, idea formation, action. Just get it. Set the theory aside, set the part about getting a boost from the universe aside if you want … This stuff is part of you … it works … just get it, just use it.

*Even Thomas Edison had things wrong about the most basic laws of electricity, he said current flowed from the positive terminal of a battery and through the circuit to the negative terminal. Now, “We Know,” (wink, wink) that the invisible electron current flow really goes from the negative terminal to the positive. Even if this is true, does it really matter to most people? It didn’t matter to Edison and he was the most successful inventor of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The world may appear shaky right now, do you have your eyes fixed on your future, have you made that vision so compelling that it will lift you from flames and into that future? Do you have some high powered juice to get you going? That poem by Wilcox is something to meditate on, to wrap your mind around and contemplate. Don’t look at the trouble that may be around you, look to where you are going. You know where that is don’t you? You’ve thought of your business goals, your home, your mate, your accomplishments, not where you are now but these things, the way you want them to be, in one-year, five-years, ten-years. Write those things down, write what you want and write, as Dr. Robert Schuller says, “as if you could not fail.” Don’t ask yourself, “Oh God, what am I going to do now.” Ask, “What would I do if I knew I couldn’t fail.”

Dr. Michael Beckwith puts it like this: “don’t tell God how big your problems are, tell your problems how big your God is.” Don’t worry about God though – whatever it is you believe about Him, He believes in you and He has hope and a future for you.

The All Creative Forces

Who put the “divine spark within you? What are the “grand and all creative forces?” Look at where you are going in life and not circumstance. Look at that bright future, envision it, make it real, go there often and go there not concerned with how it will happen, those plans will come, but with how it feels to be there and know that it is yours. This vision my friends is hi-test fuel that you can light up with your “divine spark.”

That poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox says a lot – the “grand and all creative forces” that “lifts the acorn up to the oak-tree’s height” dwell in your soul as well. The acorn doesn’t have the luxury of thinking, it is compelled to become an oak-tree. But you have free will in your mind and you must guide your thoughts to that vision ahead and that divine spark combined with the fuel of your vision will rocket you forward into your blessed future. Believe it, don’t put the brakes on because of what you may think of circumstance around you, rather gather the fuel in your imagination and let it be set off by that divine spark.

Can You Think Truth?

Wallace Wattles in Chapter 4, “The First Principals of the Science of Getting Rich,” talks about looking at things around you but always thinking truth. The truth is that you can create what you want to create but you must look on the truth of your vision regardless of what circumstance may appear to be true. Thought held in faith will take substance. You can listen to “The First Principal” here:

Listening to or reading this chapter over and over will help you build the faith and resolve in your heart that you need to put it’s principals into action. This my friends will Unleash The Law of Attraction.

“Oh, God,” said Leonardo da Vinci, “you sell us everything for the price of an effort.” That effort is holding the vision before God in the face of obstacles. As Wattles wrote in “The Science of Getting Rich”. “Hold the vision in the thinking substance” he said. Make the decision to do this now. You are one quality decision away from any thing that you could ever want. The decision is to see your future and be powered forward by it. If that future is what you are looking for then those “grand and all creative forces” will lift you up higher than even you might think or imagine.

Is it an uncertain future when the job you may be working at in five years hasn’t been invented yet or is it a time of incredible opportunity?

Have we lost the ability to plan for our future or has the world of possibility just opened before us?

Did knowing that we would be working at the factory until we retired free us to live our lives or did it chain us to something that did not allow us to grow to our potential?

At this point I’m reminded of the story of the trained fleas. I believe it’s a story told by Zig Ziglar. You put some fleas in a jar and cover it. The fleas jump and hit the lid. After a while the fleas stop jumping so high and so avoid hitting the lid. Now you can remove the lid and the fleas will not jump out. They have been trained to jump just below the level of the lid. My question for you, did the factory system which employed our people for so many years train us like the fleas: that we go only so high, that our goals were only so high, that it was safe to go only so high and no higher?

Can you envision the life you want in five years, ten years? Not how you will achieve the life, but the life that you want? John Lennon said: “life is what happens to us when we set out to do something else.”

Teutonic shifts are happening right now in the financial markets of the world. Whole industries are being challenged for their very existence in the United States. Some would say that the US Treasury is being looted.

My questions are, how does this affect you? Are you waiting for the next shoe to drop hoping that you will be spared any discomfort from the fallout? Has the prevailing atmosphere generated fear in you?

The next question: do your answers to those questions serve you? Have you developed an attitude that is above that? Have you developed a mindset that causes you to move forward without fail regardless of those things around you? In a time of bigger economic crisis our great President: Franklin Delano Roosevelt said, “we have nothing to fear but fear itself.” Those words are truer now than they were then. His statement is a timeless truth that held a nation together and no doubt was the turning point in those days. Let that truth be your turning point now – resolve to put fear aside – resolve to change fear for a vision of your future, then read on.

Wow, what could be more succinct, what could be more applicable than right now. Life is a constantly changing game. It’s another way of saying that it is all right there between your ears. What are you learning and how will it move you forward? And – can you believe it will move you forward? Can you learn to make the vision that will let you see to the other side of whatever you think it is in front of you?

The do the things to move yourself into that vision.

There is a great Bible story in the book of Genesis, the Angel of God was leading Lot and his family from the city of Sodom to safety because Sodom was being destroyed. Lot’s wife looked back and she remained frozen and turned into a pillar of salt. Don’t look back at what is happening now, look forward to the great things that are in front of you. A compelling future will give you the will to move forward into it. That is you out there smiling back and beckoning you forward. Do you see it?

Look ahead, see more, see the things that are there, get excited, be grateful, move forward -> always move forward, always look forward.

People are concerned today because of the state of the economy. But when you get out of that mindset and tap into the “thinking stuff” you will find that those thoughts are wrong. See your future; to quote the Bible, “Write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run who reads it.” Write your vision – vision means see, write it down and see it. Your future, your goals, your incredible tomorrow.

Wallace Wattles wrote a book called “The Science Of Getting Rich” nearly 100 years ago. He talks about holding the vision in “the formless substance.” The substance is the common matter from which everything is made. The substance that connects us all together. This view of the world has more and more been seen to be in line with discoveries of modern physics. Two movies have been made about the theory of a common thread and thoughts affecting the matter of the universe. The first was “What The Bleep” then came “The Secret.” “The Secret” was inspired directly from Wattles book. “The Science of Getting Rich” is availabe as a free audio download.

“MANY people will scoff at the idea that there is an exact science of getting rich; holding the impression that the supply of wealth is limited, they will insist that social and governmental institutions must be changed before even any considerable number of people can acquire a competence. But this is not true.” So writes Wallace Wattles in the summary chapter of his classic book.

Where do you stand? What do you believe? What does determine who gets rich and who does not? Wattles devotes 17 chapters to defining why and how you might get rich. He states that a “thinking stuff from which all things are made.” When you impress your thoughts on this substance the thing you desire is formed and attracted to you. Visualization, meditation, and gratitude coupled with action on your part will bring you the result you seek.

To quote Wattles again: “THERE is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the inter spaces of the universe.

A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.

Man can form things in his thought, and by impressing his thought upon formless substance can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.

In order to do this, man must pass from the competitive to the creative mind; otherwise he cannot be in harmony with the Formless Intelligence, which is always creative and never competitive in spirit.

Man may come into full harmony with the Formless Substance by entertaining a lively and sincere gratitude for the blessings it bestows upon him. Gratitude unifies the mind of man with the intelligence of Substance, so that man’s thoughts are received by the Formless. Man can remain upon the creative plane only by uniting himself with the Formless Intelligence through a deep and continuous feeling of gratitude .

Man must form a clear and definite mental image of the things he wishes to have, to do, or to become; and he must hold this mental image in his thoughts, while being deeply grateful to the Supreme that all his desires are granted to him. The man who wishes to get rich must spend his leisure hours in contemplating his Vision, and in earnest thanksgiving that the reality is being given to him. Too much stress cannot be laid on the importance of frequent contemplation of the mental image, coupled with unwavering faith and devout gratitude. This is the process by which the impression is given to the Formless, and the creative forces set in motion.”

This truly is a book worth reading today. A book that will help calm you if you are finding all the turmoil in the stock market and the economy disturbing. Wattles would tell you to hold the vision and be grateful and then act to fill your place with all of your heart. Worry and doubt means you have shifted over into a competitive mind, you don’t need to take anything away from anyone – there is no need to think that way. There is abundance in the universe and you tap into it directly. When you receive from abundance, abundance remains.

In the lines of an old poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox:

One ship sails East, another West,
By the self-same winds that blow,
It isn’t the gales, it’s the set of the sails,
That determines the way we go.

Take no worry for the storm be confident in the abundance that you are a part of.
