<p>Meditation brings the soul into harmony. It brings your life into harmony with itself and all around it. Whe then is it difficult to belive that it would help your sleep.</p>
<p>Meditation is an excellent practice that can help you fall asleep faster and improve the quality of sleep. You may also find that meditation helps you feel more refreshed with fewer hours of slumber. The following practices will encourage better sleep and bring you more energy.</p>
<p>Practices to Do Anytime</p>
<p>1. Breathe deeply. Breathing fully from your abdomen gets more oxygen to your brain. You&#8217;ll have more energy all day long and feel more relaxed when night falls.</p>
<p>2. Scan your body. Get in the habit of paying attention to your body. When you notice an ache or pain, you can adjust your position or talk with your doctor so small discomforts are treated before they build up and interfere with your sleep.</p>
<p>3. Become more mindful. Focusing on the present moment will help to keep you calm and happy. Studies show that multitasking may erode your concentration and create stress that can contribute to insomnia.</p>
<p>4. Let go of judgments. Meditation also helps to develop a mind free from judgment. Learn to observe your thoughts and reduce negative self-talk.</p>
<p>5. Identify obstacles. If some thoughts recur as you meditate, they could be trying to tell you something. Those nagging resentments or fears may be issues you need to resolve so you can live and sleep better.</p>
<p>6. Try Yoga or Tai chi. Exercises like Yoga or Tai chi are especially helpful when you approach them as a mental discipline as well as a physical workout. These movements and poses encourage deep breathing, stress reduction and enhanced concentration.</p>
<p>7. Use meditation to complement sleep. People who go on prolonged retreats are sometimes surprised that meditating all day may dramatically reduce their need for sleep at night. Proceed at your own pace to find the right combination of sleep and meditation for you. You may someday find that your body requires less sleep as you meditate more.</p>
<p>Practices To Do at Bedtime and Upon Waking</p>
<p>1. Limit your screen time. Meditation works wonders but any activity that gets you away from the TV or the internet will help you fall asleep. Studies show that many Americans are suffering from sleep problems because of the mental stimulation and looking at a brightly lit screen just before retiring. Turn all your devices off at least an hour before bed.</p>
<p>2. Create a quiet setting. Silence is conducive to both meditation and sleep. Now that you&#8217;ve got the TV off, put your phone away too. Decorate your bedroom with an emphasis on restful colors and soft textures.</p>
<p>3. Take the pressure off. Getting anxious about falling asleep is enough to keep you up at night. By shifting your attention to more constructive activities, you&#8217;ll dispel these tensions.</p>
<p>4. Use guided imagery or phrases. While you may try to avoid mental sinking during your regular meditation practice, you can adapt some of the concepts to use when you&#8217;re going to sleep. Select any soothing image or thought and allow your mind to become fully engaged with it. You might think about a still lake or a line of poetry or prayer.</p>
<p>* If you wake up after falling asleep, return your mind to your object of meditation. At first, you may still wake up during the night. If so, return your thoughts to the image or idea you used to help fall asleep.</p>
<p>5. Wake up more gently. Try going to bed and getting up at the same time each day so you can wake up naturally without using an alarm clock. Easing your mind awake gradually will enable you to hold onto the pleasant sensations you experienced overnight.</p>
<p>Meditation is a safe and effective method for alleviating insomnia. These techniques will help you enjoy deep and restful sleep.</p>

<p>It has long been recognized that meditation can open your mind to creative ideas and help you tap into the universal conciousness.  That people who meditate have higher levels of success has been long proven.  The thing is how can you begin to put this to work in your life.</p>
<p>When your mind is careening from one thought to the next, it can be difficult to meditate or even keep your mind on the road while driving. Try these strategies for preventing distractions or working with them so you can improve your concentration.</p>
<p>Minimizing Inner Distractions</p>
<p>1. Get more sleep. Eight hours of sleep is a good rule to follow for most, but there are individual differences. If your thinking gets dreamy and you fall asleep whenever you sit down, it&#8217;s a warning sign you need more slumber.</p>
<p>2. Exercise and eat well. Your mind works better when you keep your body fit. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily and eat a balanced diet with lots of vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and some healthy fats.</p>
<p>3. Sit up. Just sitting up straight can help keep your mind from sinking. Tighten those abdominal muscles to support a straight back. Relax your shoulders and draw them back so your neck and head fall into alignment.</p>
<p>4. Make yourself comfortable. Good posture feels good when you get used to it. Pay attention to your body. Shift positions if your foot is starting to fall asleep or if your legs need more room.</p>
<p>5. Take deep breaths. Breathing fully from your diaphragm helps carry more oxygen to your brain and makes it easier to manage your thoughts. It&#8217;s one reason why meditation sessions often start with breathing exercises.</p>
<p>Minimizing Outer Distractions</p>
<p>1. Limit your time online. Studies show that checking email is one of the biggest ways we waste time these days. Resolve to finish writing that report before you let yourself log onto Facebook or play another video game.</p>
<p>2. Watch less TV. If TV is consuming too much of your time, keep the set turned off unless there&#8217;s something special you want to watch. You&#8217;ll avoid the temptation to channel surf.</p>
<p>3. Turn off your phone. Try turning your phone off when urgent calls are unlikely. You can check your voice mail later for any calls you need to return.</p>
<p>4. Let people know when you need to avoid interruptions. Try to develop systems for letting kids and co-workers know when you need to avoid non-emergency interruptions. You might designate some regular hours if you work at home or let colleagues know you&#8217;ll be tied up until later in the morning.</p>
<p>5. Create a peaceful atmosphere. Clearing away clutter can help you settle down to work. Put next week&#8217;s agenda out of sight if it&#8217;s drawing your attention away from this morning&#8217;s projects.</p>
<p>Working With Distractions</p>
<p>1. Bring your mind back to your task. Distractions will still arise, but you can make them less lengthy. Monitor your thoughts so you can promptly return your focus to your work.</p>
<p>2. Remain neutral. Put aside judgmental thoughts. Instead of feeling guilty about getting off track sometimes, take notice of your progress and reward yourself.</p>
<p>3. Loosen up. Even Zen masters remain aware of their surroundings while meditating. If you&#8217;re contending with leaf blowers and car alarms, be patient and wait them out.</p>
<p>4. Examine recurring thoughts. A nagging thought could indicate an issue that&#8217;s important to address. Maybe you need to talk with your aging mother to ensure she&#8217;s getting proper medical care or maybe you just need to get your oil checked.</p>
<p>Daily life is full of distractions, but you can often prevent them or find ways to manage their impact on your ability to concentrate. By stilling your mind, you&#8217;ll feel more relaxed and adept at everything you need to do.</p>

<p>If you find yourself on a path filled with negative feelings, stress, and counter productivity, it is time to explore what you really want to do in your life. By exploring what you want to achieve the most, you begin to recognize your dream. The answer is within you. Your job is to listen and discover a clear and detailed intention of what it is you want.</p>
<p><strong>Daily Positive Affirmations</strong></p>
<p>When using the secret of attraction, all affirmations must be stated in present tense. Stating a desire in the future means you are waiting for what you want. You must remain in the moment.<strong> </strong>Every affirmation must be positive. The universe always gives you what you ask for.</p>

<p>Could it just be that Robbins, Peale, and Waitley are great motivators?  That would be too obvious, but you will figure out the answer shortly.</p>
<p><a title="As A Man Thinekth" href="../../../../../2009/01/as-a-man-thinketh/">As A Man Thinketh</a> haw a great message for everyone.  It was written by <a title="James Allen" href="http://www.therealmikegriffin.com/james-allen">James Allen</a> in 1902 and is based on his meditations on Proverbs 23:7.  Your mind is like a garden, it will bring forth.  If you cultivate it, it will produce good results, results that you want.  If you let anything grow then your results will be the same as if you let your garden grow &#8211; you will get weeds.</p>
<p>It is important that you cultivate your vital thoughts.  This is a law that is fixed you reap what you sew.  &#8220;As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.&#8221;  There is great insight to be gained from doing your own meditation on that verse.</p>
<p>Circumstances grow out of your thoughts, when you sincerely seek to remedy the problems in your character, which was produced by your thoughts, you will see a rapid improvement in your circumstances.  Right thinking draws you to a life of prosperity and achievement.  Keep your mind on the things you seek.  This is another statement of <a title="master the law of attraction" href="../../../../../2009/02/master-the-law-of-attraction/">the law of attraction</a>.  The book contains all the elements of the law and it&#8217;s study will help you advance in that study.</p>
<p>Allen talks of mental harmony where your mind and thoughts are not torn by competing ideas.  When we allow ideas to be planted by others, by media, then we are not being good gardeners and may even become share croppers with others controlling us by the messages we allowed them to implant.</p>
<p>Limiting beliefs plague everyman and as we cultivate our thoughts we need to examine these.  Beliefs can both protect us and hold us back.  That is why we must understand why we hold our beliefs and should we keep them..</p>
<p>Allen says: &#8220;A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.&#8221;  That is very clear and one of the main themes of the book. Our thoughts bring our environment and our environment becomes a looking glass into our minds.  If we cannot make ourselves do the things we think we should do then we need to look deeper in to what is being planted in our subconscious.  We have to cultivate the beliefs that will cause us to take action in the ways we want, in the ways that will benefit us.</p>

<p>At our <a href="http://www.TheRealMikeGriffin.com/proctor">Law of Attraction Mastery</a> page you will find the several stages of learning about the law of attraction that will lead to mastery.</p>
<p>Here are three ideas to help your understanding:</p>
<ol>
<li>Visualize your outcome.  This could be a thing or the way you’d like a situation to turn out.  See it in as much detail as you can.  For example if you want a new car sit in it, hear the sound of the tight fitting doors closing, smell the leather of the interior, hear the rich bass from the radio.  As you drive feel the acceleration.   You get the idea, make as much detail as you can.</li>
<li>Give thanks that you have received the object of step one.  Feel a deep gratitude and realize that it is yours.  Wallace Wattles, in The Science of Getting Rich, says: “by thought the thing is created, by action you receive.”  And this brings us to step 3.</li>
<li>By action you receive: as you go through your day let the memory of your visualization come into mind, no need for continued meditation, but just let the thought pass through.  Soon you’ll also be getting thoughts about the actions you need to take.  When these thoughts come take the action, don’t be timid, take the action with confidence.</li>
</ol>
<p>The law of attraction was popularized by The Secret but you need a book like The Science of Getting Rich to learn the more precise details of it&#8217;s use. It&#8217;s about your goals in life and creating a vision of those things and of the person you want to be. What you bring to the process now and how you can grow those good things in your life by having objectives. And this is an important process to go through &#8211; have a look at the article.</p>
<p>The law of attraction suggests the life mapping process will help you move forward because your focus moves to the places you want to go to rather than something that may be sitting in your path in this moment, or something you see in your path a little way down the road. Life mapping is a tool that can help with the law of attraction because it focuses on where you want to be and sets aside limits.</p>
<h2>Keep The Vision Fresh</h2>
<p>Can you keep this vision fresh everyday when you look to it? Life mapping helps you formulate the outcomes that you use in your visualization and meditation.</p>
<h2>From Vision To Inspiration</h2>
<p>Allow your life map inspired vision to take on a life of it&#8217;s own. This is inspiration as the vision moves from your thoughts to changing on it&#8217;s own. Inspiration happens when there is stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity. Inspiration is divine guidance or influence exerted directly on the mind and soul of humankind.</p>
<p>Life mapping is an essential part of stimulating the mind in the direction you&#8217;d like to go. As you are formulating your mind map you need to let go of limits. Recall at one time no one believed that the four minute mile could be broken and now it&#8217;s done not just at the college level but also high school. The false belief has been removed and along with it artificial limitations. Clear yourself of such false limitations in order to allow your vision to take form and be truly inspired.</p>
<p></p>
<h2>States of Joy</h2>
<p>As you unleash visions based on your life mapping just know it&#8217;s a perfect day as you begin. You don&#8217;t need to know why, only that it is. If you know why &#8211; that&#8217;s fine &#8211; but that it is a perfect day is all you need.</p>
<p>Joy comes from gratitude and appreciation. Can you maintain a state of gratitude, can you appreciate where you are in life or do you just notice the things that aren&#8217;t quite right. Often when people make goals they stop there. If you&#8217;ve stopped there you have probably just spent a lot of time reviewing everything you don&#8217;t like about your life and want to change. I weigh too much, I don&#8217;t make enough money, and any number of other items where you don&#8217;t feel you measure up to the person you want to be. The danger is two-fold. You are focusing on your problems, you are making a lot of work for yourself. It is important to change this around a bit.</p>
<p>Instead of setting goals by looking at your short comings look out to that perfect day in the future where everything is right in your life. Look out and be grateful that you are that person &#8211; can you appreciate that this accomplished person is you? And that accomplished person is grateful for the good things, that person looks back at you and smiles and you see love and feel a connectedness unlike you have known. Make life mapping work for you &#8211; go into the vision and reach back to yourself now and share the joy and gratitude. Pass back the good things that you feel and enjoy them now.</p>
<h2>Connecting To The Future</h2>
<p>In your heart you get the message coming to you. This great accomplished person is connected with you now and loves you in a profound way and appreciates all that you are doing now because your actions have created this perfect day. And as you look to yourself and you look back you experience that moment now, you share the joy with yourself. It is the gratitude and appreciation flowing both ways on the time line that is your life.</p>
<p>Out of this gratitude faith comes and with faith and belief all things are possible. Don&#8217;t make yourself do anything, see the vision, see that person who is you on one of what will be many perfect days and this thing that you are considering doing, how does it connect you to this perfect day, does it have a connection, is it something that will help take you there? The joy of this perfect day and the activity you are considering, aren&#8217;t they really one? Can you do the activity with the gratitude of the person you are on that perfect day looking back and giving thanks that you did the things that are necessary to get there? It is you today who has built that life &#8211; can you enjoy that now?</p>
<p>And when you need some encouragement can you look out to that person, smile, and reconnect to that bond &#8211; that energy between the two of you?</p>
<h2>Connecting To Your Past</h2>
<p>Your life is a wheel and you sit in the hub, look down any spoke and see yourself past, present, and future. Look back the other direction from that perfect day and see the kid back there. Was he struggling or was it good. Smile back at that little person and communicate the good to him. Let him know that he is valuable and important and thank him for all he is doing &#8211; it is important and even if he has made some mistakes you&#8217;ve learned from them and he has set the foundation of your success. Go back to him often and help him see those things that he may not be aware of that will move him in the direction he needs to go.</p>
<p>Life mapping can help you connect with your visions in a way that will inspire you. As it does reach back and connect with that part of you in the past that also wanted to achieve and succeed. Pass some of that joy back to him and can you see that he will pass it back forward to you now and increase the joy, and resolution, and drive that is within you? Your bad memories will clear and the joyful memories will take their place, new heights of possibility and achievement will overtake you. Life mapping with the visualization that empowers the law of attraction will take you to new levels of joy, empowerment, gratitude, action and success.</p>
