There is a great old book called “The Science of Getting Rich” written in 1911 by a man named Wallace Wattles. The book was the inspiration for “The Secret” a movie all about the law of attraction. Although “The Science of Getting Rich” is about the law of attraction, it never calls it that, even so this book is perhaps the best reference about using the law and putting it into action in your life.

Basically using the law of attraction boils down to setting up a daily cycle in your life.

1. Visualize an outcome – see the result
2. Take note of the ideas that come to mind
3. See the world in the context of this vision
4. Notice new things, create a mindset that appreciates things rather than discounts them
5. Add in these things to your vision and let the vision morph
6. Take action in anyway that you can on these ideas and on your vision
7. Repeat morning and night every day

Wattles states:

You must form a clear and definite mental picture of what you want; you cannot transmit an idea before you have it yourself. You must have it before you can give it; and many people fail to impress Thinking Substance because they have themselves only a vague and misty concept of the things they want to do, have, or to become.

If you close your eyes right now can you see a picture of what you want in your life? Can you step into it and feel, smell, and hear? Wattles says: It is not enough that you should have a general desire for wealth “to do good with” everybody has that desire.

Wattles talks about a sensory rich vision as the first step. This is a vision powerful enough to inspire and motivate you to take action to make the vision a reality. How can you have something if you don’t really know what it is. Vague or general ideas are no different from seeing something on TV and then the next day trying to describe the show to a Friend. You have some of it but much of the detail is gone.

In your vision the only way to fill it in is to go through it over and over, perhaps take some notes. Include in your notes how it makes you feel? What do you hear? Who is there with you? Is the scent of sandalwood in the air? Experience it all, put it all down and on successive days fill in the details and intensify the vision. Spend time contemplating this picture.

As you go through the day find moments to bring your vision to mind just long enough to appreciate it and be grateful for it.

Continue this process as the first step of the law of attraction daily cycle.

These words have stuck with me over the years. Since that time, I have I try to let myself go with the flow as I gently move in the direction that I wish my life to take me. –Masaru Emoto in “The Secret Life of Water.”

What a life lesson, instead of fighting and resisting relax and let the water lift you and be in the flow.  The struggle causes you to sink but if you allow the water to lift you, if you allow life to lift you, if you get out of turmoil, then you allow the law of attraction to operate.  This philosophy is not unlike what Ester Hicks channels with Abraham. They talk of struggling to paddle the boat up stream, to paddle against the current when everything you want is down stream, if you’d just turn the boat around: life would be easy.

Often we struggle because we are doing not what we, deep in our hearts, want to do, but rather what has been defined by our circumstance, by those around us, our life has become a series of musts.  With all of these musts life becomes difficult and we flayl and life is hard.

People flayl around when trouble hits instead of letting life lift them.  They paddle up stream instead of down.  Ask yourself – how can I let life lift me like Emoto’s water.  People have said “let go and let God.”   Bob Proctor talks about the law of non-resistance in the 11 Forgotten Laws course.  He says 9 out of 10 people violate it.  Resistance is a signal that you are moving into a new area and what you resist persists.  Bob says, “instead of reacting, respond…  let go of resistance, just let it go.”  Reacting is a habit to respond you have to think.  When you react whatever it is causeing you to react wins, when you respond – you win.  Emoto’s water: to think is to let the water lift you.  In life: to think is to let life lift you.  Can you believe that about life, that it will lift you?  That is the law of attraction see the thing and be drawn or lifted toward it.

Here are three ideas to help your understanding:

1. Visualize your outcome. This could be a thing or the way you’d like a situation to turn out. See it in as much detail as you can. For example if you want a new car sit in it, hear the sound of the tight fitting doors closing, smell the leather of the interior, hear the rich bass from the radio. As you drive feel the acceleration. You get the idea, make as much detail as you can.
2. Give thanks that you have received the object of step one. Feel a deep gratitude and realize that it is yours. Wallace Wattles, in The Science of Getting Rich, says: “by thought the thing is created, by action you receive.” And this brings us to step 3.
3. By action you receive: as you go through your day let the memory of your visualization come into mind, no need for continued meditation, but just let the thought pass through. Soon you’ll also be getting thoughts about the actions you need to take. When these thoughts come take the action, don’t be timid, take the action with confidence.

The law of attraction was popularized by The Secret but you need a book like The Science of Getting Rich to learn the more precise details of it’s use. Master the law of attraction, what if you could master it?  Did you know The Science of Getting Rich tells you exactly how to attain mastery?  What would mastery mean to you? The Science of Getting Rich

In 1910 a rather strange man named Wallace D. Wattles wrote what has become a classic success book: The Science of Getting Rich. This book while always getting a little attention through the years has become hugely popular again since the release of The Secret movie. Rhonda Byrne, the creator of the movie has said that The Science of Getting Rich was a major factor in the movie.

The Science of Getting Rich doesn’t use the words: “law of attraction” anywhere in it – yet in reading the book it is unmistakable that the law of attraction is what it is all about. Hold the vision of the thing you want in the invisible thinking substance that makes up the universe. Profound for 1910, today people discussing the law begin to talk about Physics and discoveries in quantum mechanics. We were perhaps better off with the simpler language which is part of the charm of Wattles book.

Master The Law of Attraction

Hold the vision, see the vision and step into it, experience it. At some point you will learn what to do and you must act. Wattles says: “By thought, the thing you want is brought to you. By action, you receive it.” A lot of people leave out the discussion of the action part when talking about the law of attraction. It is nice to think that all you have to do is dream, and your dreams will see reality. The idea of action says you might have to work at it a little bit too.

Yet it is this very “action” that activates the law of attraction and this is a key part of what wattles focuses on in The Science of Getting Rich. It’s all there in that book, laying in the open, and not “Secret” since 1910.
