Sometimes we need a little different perspective on things in order to get back on course with our lives. It’s easy to drift and sometimes in the right currents drifting through life doesn’t turn out too badly although the person may not feel a sense of fulfillment when all is said and done.
All of us need some introspection from time to time, we need to look at the things that are influencing us, the things that are stirring the currents around us, and we need to decide if we really want to go that way.
Enter the life coach. A good life coach will draw you out and help you understand where you are, where you want to go, and help you realize a plan to get there. It all comes from questions.
Here are four simple questions that are at the heart of all life coaching, if you look at an answer them several times a year, you will lay the foundations of success:
1. Where are you now?
2. Where do you want to be?
3. What are your roadblocks?
4 What are you going to do about them?
These simple questions will help you gain perspective and direction in your life, your business. Put the questions/answers in your journal and check back on them later.
Remember, your life coach doesn’t answer these questions, you do – so you can begin now with just the questions. Your coach helps you come to these questions and helps you look at them. When you draw out the things within yourself then you’ll have a good perspective on how to get there.

Life coaching has been around for ages. I believe that ancient divination methods, despite whatever else they might have been, were also at some level life coaching. Take the I Ching – of The Book of Changes. A person comes to it and asks what the next year may bring. He casts coins or yarrow sticks and the Oracle speaks.
It has always been interesting to me that the advice of the I Ching comes in two parts. Some information followed by the admonition: “The Superior Man, in accordance with this…” and some more information.
Like a good life coach, the I Ching leads you into looking at yourself and your situation but lets you as the superior man/woman be responsible for the decision reached.
And so it is with a life coach. A life coach is in a sense a modern oracle who can have a profound impact on those who approach.
